About Us
Background
Nonuttin' Foods Inc. was founded in November 2002, 5 years after our youngest child was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy.
As our daughter began school, we discovered a number of children and adults bringing food products with peanuts, nuts or traces of these to school despite a “nut free” policy. In particular, we saw many granola bars. This caused us to search for a nut free granola bar
that we considered healthful .
When we couldn’t find any granola bars that were healthful,
we created one of our own.
Starting a food company from scratch was a long and difficult journey especially when there were so many allergy issues to consider. We wanted to take into account many food allergies, not just peanut/nut. After almost 2 years of product development, Nonuttin’ Granola Bars hit the shelves in August of 2004.
Nonuttin’ Foods Inc. includes all members of the Elliott family from the position of President down to new variety taste testers. Nonuttin’ Foods Inc. hired 2 employees in October, 2004, 1 more in November 2005. We plan to continue growing and employing more members of our community. We were proud to be nominated for our local Chamber of Commerce’s Black Tie Excellence Awards in October, 2004 and then again in November 2005 when we won the award.
We believe that we need to give back to our community as much as possible. We provide paid volunteer days for our employees, recycle all possible materials in our facility and help support local events. This past year, we’ve been proud supporters of:
